The Islanders acquire much-needed offense by landing Bo Horvat from the Canucks.




The possibility of Bo Horvat leaving Vancouver had always been a topic of discussion, and on Monday it became a reality when the Canucks traded their captain to the New York Islanders.

Horvat was traded in exchange for forward Anthony Beauvillier, prospect forward Aatu Raty and a conditional first-round pick in this year's draft. The Islanders' general manager Lou Lamoriello stated that Horvat brings a two-way game, is close to having a career year, and has been a 30-35 goal scorer in recent years. Horvat's 31 goals are tied for 8th in the league and his 54 points are tied for 21st, making him a valuable addition to the Islanders' top-six center group. Horvat is in the final year of his six-year contract extension and Vancouver retained 25% of his salary-cap hit.

The Islanders have four pending unrestricted free agents, including Horvat, and are projected to have $16.275 million in available cap space. Horvat has said that it all happened so fast and that his agent will handle any discussions about a new deal.

After the match, PSG confirmed Neymar had a sprained ankle but avoided a fracture and will undergo more testing to determine the severity of the injury.
